Michael Bisping isn’t wasting any time getting back on the horse, despite his middleweight title loss to Georges St-Pierre just one week ago.
In a shocking turn of events, Michael ‘The Count’ Bisping will make a 21-day turnaround from his loss at 217, by agreeing to fight Kelvin Gastelum. The fight will be the main event at UFC Fight Night 122, which takes place Nov. 26 in Shanghai.
Gastelum was originally set to face Anderson Silva, before the veteran was pulled from the card after being flagged by USADA for a potential anti doping violation. 38 year old Bisping wasted no time in taking the match up, despite losing his Middleweight belt to GSP just 3 weeks prior.
While Bisping was given a 30 day medical suspension by the New York State Athletic Commission, it is possible to waive this period with a doctors permission. In taking the fight, the Manchester native will set a new record for most fights in UFC history, as he makes his 29th appearance in the octagon.
Though many felt as though ‘The Count’ may hang up his gloves after his latest fight, it seems the crafty veteran is game as ever when it comes to the sport he loves.
